What do the dates require?

1 July 2026 — done

SIL became a mandatory-registration class

Module 5A of the Practice Standards, the SIL module, took effect the same day.1 Providers already registered keep operating while the NDIS Commission decides on varying each registration. The SIL module applies to them in the meantime.2

Now — before 1 October

Where a SIL provider stands now

Providers delivering SIL before 1 July 2026 can lodge now and keep operating while the NDIS Commission decides. Providers who started later need registration before delivering any SIL.3

1 October 2026

The lodging window closes

This window is for providers delivering SIL before 1 July 2026: lodge before 1 October and keep operating while the application is decided.2 Providers that started later have no window and need registration before they deliver.2

After lodging

The certification audit, then the obligations

A certification audit assesses the Practice Standards, including Module 5A.1 A mid-term audit and renewal follow. Incident and complaint notifications run the whole time.3

What does the audit sample?1

Longstead holds the four registers, worker and participant records. Policies, procedures and behaviour support plans stay where they are today.

A worker's First Aid credential in Longstead: Verified and Current badges, the expiry date, the verification method and date, and an evidence file with its SHA-256 hash and the note that evidence can't be changed once uploaded.
A verified credential with its SHA-256 hash, unchangeable after upload.

What else gets asked?

Does this apply to me?

Yes, if you deliver Supported Independent Living. Already registered? Your registration varies when the NDIS Commission decides, and the SIL module applies in the meantime.2

What happens if I do nothing before 1 October?

You can't lawfully keep delivering SIL after 1 October unless you lodged first, and the window only covers providers delivering SIL before 1 July 2026.2 If you started after 1 July, delivering without registration already isn't lawful.2

Can I do this without a consultant?

You can. Consultants set up or review a system; the audit samples the records kept every day. Longstead makes those records defensible.
